  • Dentists are lovely people

I say this in the hope of karma for my visit today. After the past few days I need some.

Was reading yesterday about a game called GTR Racing which is supposed to be an very realistic racing game. Going to try the demo and see if it is more advanced than GT4.

Better get on, wish me luck with the dentist. I may be typing with a slur later.

  • Not quite so happy face

Going back to work tomorrow after 3 days off with a very nasty dose of cold. And just to make sure things are interesting, I also have a huge toothache. I am off to see the dentist on my lunchbreak. Hurrah.

Watched a couple of films crashed out on the sofa yesterday, thought it was about time I caught up on my dvd backlog, which is massive. Watched Office Space, which was funny but not the classic I was hoping it might be, and Shaun of the Dead, which is just damn good fun.

Off to apply bonjella and watch Emmerdale, both for my sins.

  • Happy Happy Face

Getting somewhere with PL/SQL. Think I have solved my first problem in it where I haven’t just been reading a textbook to get the answer. I am thinking in it now. Well not right now obviously.

Its a sunny day, half-day tomorrow, long weekend of fun and frolics, it is all, as they say, good.

  • New Blog, new beginning

And welcome to the new look flotsky.co.uk V14.0. I’ve decided to base it round the blog, as thats the bit that gets the most work on it. Other stuff will appear gradually on the right, as I sort it out. This blogger.com style log is much nicer, and easier to maintain too.

I’ve converted all the old bloxsom blog entries into this format, and I’m hoping to work through my older diary stuff too in time, have it all in one place. And ideally change the pink for purple. Off to bed it is for me now.

  • Getting There

Okay, I know its taking a while. I’ve been working on a new feature when I should be sorting this mess
out. Dems the breaks. Anyways, there is now a forum here where if you so choose you can talk about things and stuff and stuff and things. Very exciting. I need to do some work on the site now, want a slight restyling, and obviously sorting out some links, and get the blog back to its former glory. Which is the next priority.

Starting to get my head into PL/SQL at the moment, which essentially is a more programming language styled version of SQL. Its a bit weird, and unluckily some of the stuff that I think should be bread and butter stuff is some of the more obscure stuff. I’m getting there with it though, and obviously it will be another string for the CV. As is some of the stuff I am messing with for the new site (which shall be referred to as v14.0). I am
hoping to have some stats set up for the site soon, so I can see where traffic is coming from. I do love my
new hosts Textdrive, they seem to make very complex stuff seem
very easy. Which is what you want really 🙂

  • Bit of a state

Have now moved to the American Host. Running away to London for a few days break, so leaving it in this somewhat dodgy state for now. Issue with file dates and dull stuff to sort out. Bye for now

  • Hmmm, maybe time for a move

Thinking about transferring the hosting for this site to an American host. Colleague at work has
done the same, and all the twizzy stuff the host offers is very tempting. Maybe will sort that out
this week. More on this as it happens.

  • BBC Backstage

BBC Backstage is an interesting little bit of the BBC site. They are encouraging people to make use of the rss feeds on the site and do something useful with them.
    So far this has produced:

All very prototypy, but very impressive thus far.

  • Google World Domination pt 888303

Google Home Page is clearly their latest enterprise to run the world. A limited selection of RSS feeds, and
one of your gmail for starters. I suspect you will be able to configure the rss feeds later on. I would rather they did something mimicking Gmail for RSS feeds myself, but I think that sort of thing will come together over time. I’ll certainly have it set as my homepage for a little while, see what they start doing with it over the next few weeks.

  • Firefox Extensions

This is just a quick list of the essential Firefox Extensions:

Will add to this later, hopefully.
