  • Only 10% of Burnout 3 to go

Unfortunately of course it is going to be the hardest part. I still seem to be knocking off a couple of gold medals a session at present though so I am getting there, just not sure how long it is going to take me now. Must get back into some online gaming with it soon, see how I measure up to the evil Americans now I have unlocked some more cars.

Cold is still dragging on, very very bored of it now. Still, got nice things to look forwards to this weekend, first wedding anniversary. Bit scary to think that was only a year ago, seems miles away now. Has been a damn fine year 🙂

  • Last Night

I believe I was propositioned by a gay duck whilst playing Animal Crossing. I found this somewhat disconcerting, especially considering this is a Nintendo game. I mean, it is hard to say for sure, but there was an undertone to what he was saying, and he walked away with love hearts above his head

It may have been that I am wrong with the duck’s sex (how do you sex an electronic duck?). Maybe that is it.

  • Still ill

Just not shaking this damn cold. Still working, just not digging it. My life was considerably brightened by a visit from a Chimney Sweep yesterday. I’ve never had a Chimney swept, and it was all very intriguing to watch. When the brush got to the top of the stack, they asked me if I wanted to go outside and make a wish. I looked at them as if they were mental, but apparently it is traditional. Someone later suggested to me that it may have been the fine tradition of “guvnor, would you mind leaving the house for a moment whilst we rob the family silver?”.

  • Ouch

I am afraid I am in a moany mood this week. I straigned something from coughing this week, which just hurts a bit, more a nagging pain than a searing one, but just not good. It’ll calm down in a day or two, but not nice frankly.

Looking forwards to collapsing on the sofa tonight and not moving much, perhaps ever again. Long long week. Need nice food, beer and sofa. Mmmmm (falls asleep)

  • Welcome to my world. A world of less snot

Getting there. Close to being back to normal, which is an ideal, or at least more ideal state of affairs. It is also a very nice looking day out there, cold but deep blue skies.

You can tell its become Autumn when they start putting decent stuff on the telly again. Last night I watched The Apprentice, an american high-powered business reality TV show with the worlds best wig-wearer, Donald Trump. I saw a bit of Flashmob, The Opera, which sounded like an absolute abortion of a concept, but the last 10 minutes that I saw were simple, and really moving. And Arrested Development, an new US sitcom. Its sort of live action Simpsons meets 6 feet under. It stars Hank from Larry Saunders, which is enough for me, as anyone who was even vaguely involved with that is some sort of god. Whats more, he is funnier in that than even in Larry. It is a slow mover, but I’m very prepared to give it time, good start thus far.

  • Welcome to my world. A world of snot

Everyone in the world has a cold now. Fact. Mine, however, is clearly worse than anyone elses. Its partly that it makes me less motivated than normal (which is pretty low on the whole scale of motivation). And partly that I am coughing far too much. Its all a bit crap frankly.

I was also annoyed last night that after 3 hours of viewing fox news, I had to go to bed before the vice-presidential debate came on. Having sat through all that pro-Bush stuff (including the stunning arguement that “those liberals that say we haven’t proved the link between Sadam and Al-Quaida, well, you just aren’t going to find that sort of proof”) I kind of felt I was due a bit of fun. Wasn’t to be…

  • In fact back to work

And am I glad to be back, no really I am. Still a bit ropey it has to be said, but I am in better shape than yesterday, which is something. I keep telling myself I am a brave little soldier.

Have played a lot of Burnout 3 the past few days, and I think it is safe to say it is a sublime game, beautiful balance of many things, timing, co-ordination, and big fat crashes with large explosions. The online mode is pretty special too, even if it does involve talking to American gamers. I could potentially get a headset which would allow me to communicate with these “peers”, but frankly there is great appeal in not hearing the word “faggot” every ten seconds when playing a racing game.

  • Almost back to work

Thought I was going back to work today after a nice break, but unfortunately a nasty bout of cold has knocked me sideways (thus causing the late updating of this page). Spent the day doing little of consequence and sleeping.

Shame really, because I was feeling very chilled after a fun few days. Thursday we went down to Brighton (and just to show how luck was going my way, Pokemon Fire-Red turned up about an hour before we left the house, meaning I could play that on the train down. Top game by the way, nothing that new or suprising, just template Pokemon goodness, will keep me occupied on the bus to work). We had a top notch time in Brighton, couple of great nights of fun, meals out, and getting to catch up with a couple of old mates too. Lots of fun shopping also. Really needed the little break.

  • Have

Been playing too much PSO, Burnout 3 and Animal Crossing. And loving it, fantastic triplet of games to be working on. Have the new Pokemon game for the GBA to come in a few days as well, so in absolute gaming heaven here at the moment. Burnout 3 is just edging it at the moment, really intense gaming, and I knows I have a fair old bit of work to do in it. You need to get the better cars to survive in the online modes properly, and they have to be unlocked. Will keep my late evenings busy for the next few months I suspect

  • Its the weekend (almost)

Well, I know have Animal Crossing for the gamecube, and it is mental and brilliant. It feels like really hard work, not because I’m not enjoying it, but because you have to do lots, jobs and errands, and you have to remember loads of things on your mental to do list. But it is a beautifully balanced game, so easy to pick up and play.

Busy weekend here, got three sets of friends coming in two days. Will be good debauched fun 🙂
