Blog

  • All I wish to say for now

is that waxing ones own back is
    1) very tricky
    2) very painful
    3) a very very bad idea.

  • Lazy Sunday afternoon

Watching atheltics and being hot. Cooked a variant on this recipe yesterday, put in scallops instead of pineapple because, well, we had scallops, and I don’t like pineapple. Its very tasty, the noodles are gorgeous, and the fish was so tender and full of flavour. Tonight’s meal is grilled bream with a potato curry, which I am looking forwards to a lot.

After that, will watch the US Grand Prix, where Michelin are having some severe issues with their tyres, so could be an interesting race. In fact this season has been one of the more interesting in years, a lot more unpredictable, and some very close races.

  • Hot. Damn Hot.

It appears to be something like 32 degrees C today. I am sat inside in my shorts, and little else, being very hot. I also feel wise for having bought a big bag of ice this morning. I may have a bath with bag of ice later.

Have been helping mrsfb with her blog. Looks pretty good thus far: Schallabrity

Also should add one more blog for the day, The Wrestling Blog

  • Other blogs are also available

I have been wandering around some other blogs this morning, just to pass the time. There is some good writing going on out there in the blogsphere:

    • Wonderduck’s Pond – A good and new blog, mainly about F1
    • Lady Muck – Musings on TV and Film
    • Simon Pegg’s Stalker – Just a funny blog name
    • StavSport – Appears to now be a blogweb, but worth going back through, some funny posts in there

Makes you realise there is a lot that can be done with a blog, both in content and style.

  • Less pain, more gain

So I am now due a very ordinary filling on Monday, the pain is subsiding, and my teeth now look great. Almost American in their perfection. Well not quite, but much better.

I still have the last episode of The Thick of it to watch, which was absolutely fantastic. And there is a new series to come, which is highly good news too. Best political comedy in a very long time.

I still have a long term project of getting rid of all my VHS tapes, and copying everything worth keeping to DVD. Few nights ago I came upon a lovely surprise, of a Larry Sanders episode I never knew I had. Its one of the reasons I bother trawling through all the tapes, regardless of what is written on them. You never know. One thing I did know and copied was tape of my visit to Avebury for the Summer Solstice in 1996. Lots of footage of sunrise. Quite pretty actually.

  • Dentists are lovely people

I say this in the hope of karma for my visit today. After the past few days I need some.

Was reading yesterday about a game called GTR Racing which is supposed to be an very realistic racing game. Going to try the demo and see if it is more advanced than GT4.

Better get on, wish me luck with the dentist. I may be typing with a slur later.

  • Not quite so happy face

Going back to work tomorrow after 3 days off with a very nasty dose of cold. And just to make sure things are interesting, I also have a huge toothache. I am off to see the dentist on my lunchbreak. Hurrah.

Watched a couple of films crashed out on the sofa yesterday, thought it was about time I caught up on my dvd backlog, which is massive. Watched Office Space, which was funny but not the classic I was hoping it might be, and Shaun of the Dead, which is just damn good fun.

Off to apply bonjella and watch Emmerdale, both for my sins.

  • Happy Happy Face

Getting somewhere with PL/SQL. Think I have solved my first problem in it where I haven’t just been reading a textbook to get the answer. I am thinking in it now. Well not right now obviously.

Its a sunny day, half-day tomorrow, long weekend of fun and frolics, it is all, as they say, good.

  • New Blog, new beginning

And welcome to the new look flotsky.co.uk V14.0. I’ve decided to base it round the blog, as thats the bit that gets the most work on it. Other stuff will appear gradually on the right, as I sort it out. This blogger.com style log is much nicer, and easier to maintain too.

I’ve converted all the old bloxsom blog entries into this format, and I’m hoping to work through my older diary stuff too in time, have it all in one place. And ideally change the pink for purple. Off to bed it is for me now.

  • Getting There

Okay, I know its taking a while. I’ve been working on a new feature when I should be sorting this mess
out. Dems the breaks. Anyways, there is now a forum here where if you so choose you can talk about things and stuff and stuff and things. Very exciting. I need to do some work on the site now, want a slight restyling, and obviously sorting out some links, and get the blog back to its former glory. Which is the next priority.

Starting to get my head into PL/SQL at the moment, which essentially is a more programming language styled version of SQL. Its a bit weird, and unluckily some of the stuff that I think should be bread and butter stuff is some of the more obscure stuff. I’m getting there with it though, and obviously it will be another string for the CV. As is some of the stuff I am messing with for the new site (which shall be referred to as v14.0). I am
hoping to have some stats set up for the site soon, so I can see where traffic is coming from. I do love my
new hosts Textdrive, they seem to make very complex stuff seem
very easy. Which is what you want really 🙂
