Blog

  • ch-ch-ch-ch-changes

Right, couple of decisions have been made. Firstly, I am going to try and set a regular time to blog. After tea, whilst we watch Deal or No Deal. I’m only sat there being sarcastic, so it is time to put that time to better use.

Secondly, I am going to try and start up a wrestling blog, to be written in the same timeframe. What I am hoping is that I can write some sensible lengthy pieces about a subject I love. I think it would do my writing good to have a regular theme to write about like that. Will work on and announce that quite soon hopefully.

Finally, just worth mentioning that I am having some back pain at the moment. Have been to the docs, and have got a referral to a physio unit for a couple of sessions. Causing me quite a bit of discomfort at the moment, not much fun, but at least I am starting to get it sorted

All of these are old games I played to death and loved. Absolutely fantastic to see them all again.

  • Second child syndrome

I must give a quick plug to a friend of mine, Em, who is starting a blog about her pregnancy with her second child. She is a very good writer, and I thoroughly assure you there will be more to it than just complaining about piles. Although she may, I do not wish to suggest she shouldn’t. Anyway, have a look at Second Child Syndrome to see what I mean, Em can get you into it better than I can plug her.

As a side note, this is post 400 on this blog. Go me.

  • Less than memorable moments from Top of the Pops

Was talking about this very topic on a message board somewhere. The first one that came to mind was the drunk bloke waving into camera during a performance of Seven Tears by the Goombay dance band that was
shown ten weeks in a row or something. It was certainly at number 1 for a couple of months. He became an old friend you
looked out for after a while. He looked quite lonely in some ways, the rest of the crowd was much younger and watching the band, he looked out of place and time.

    Others I remember include:

The Scotland team with John Gordon Sinclair and BA Robertson. I think it was 1982 (86 at absolute latest). Whereas 78 was the year of hope and failure, this team looked like it knew it would lose the world cup. During this very performance.

Diamond Lights – Hoddle and Waddle. I saw this again recently, and what is wonderful but very poor about this is how much more into the whole thing Hoddle is compared to Waddle.

Do you remember any particularly bad performances?

  • Performancing for Firefox 1.1.1

Very handy extension for Firefox, blogging toolbar. Testing it out just now.

EDIT: Okay, have tested it. A wonderful extension, very stylish, and does a lot of sophisticated stuff simply. I contribute or provide admin services to several blogs, and in one fell swoop it imported all the blogger ones, and provided a lovely interface to it. Very nicely done *wears his very impressed face*

  • Animal Crossing, 17 days away

To say I am excited about the prospect of a mobile Animal Crossing would be an utter understatement. One of the strangest, cutest and most downright enthralling games of the past few years, mobile, with wireless? I am so there. I normally buy my games in person, but this one has gone on order a little while back, so hopefully will be sitting in my porch on the morning of release. All impatient now just thinking about it.

  • Lazy Weekend

Didn’t achieve much. Did get to go for drinks with mates, watch a lot of motor racing, and relax a lot. No bad thing. Return of the F1 cars with the Bahrain race, which was on at a right awkward time, just early enough that I could worry about missing it, whilst also late enough not to merit an alarm. Got to see it, anyways.

  • My new mantra

    I’m your only friend

    I’m not your only friend

But I’m a little glowing friend

But really I’m not actually your friend

  • On the road again

Wow, I just spotted this and had to post it. A website with detailed descriptions of the first 99 A roads in Britain. Lengthy descriptions

  • Hey you, what’s that sound? Everybody look what’s going down.

Well, I am starting to regain my sanity from the giving up smoking adventure. Now I just physically feel like utter crap. Going to have to have a health kick of some description soon, to try and get me over the hump of it. I feel more positive about doing so, now I have knocked the smoking on the head. It is a biggie, it does make you feel you can deal with other things. What has scared me somewhat in the past is quite how out of breathe I can get from fairly low-level activity in recent years. This is a simple combination of 1) smoking and 2) being fat. I need to start work on 2 as well now.

Just think, when I hit 40 and am a carved Adonis, we will look back on these days and laugh. A bit.
